Torre del Mar Out-of-Hours Clinic Closed Through 13 October
The out-of-hours emergency clinic in Torre del Mar is temporarily closed for maintenance from 10 to 13 October, with urgent care redirected to Vélez-Sur.
Temporary Closure in Torre del Mar
Visitors and residents in the Axarquía region should take note of a temporary change to local healthcare services this weekend. The out-of-hours emergency clinic (*urgencias*) situated at the main health centre in Torre del Mar is closed for scheduled maintenance work.
The closure commenced on Saturday 10 October and runs until Tuesday 13 October. During this three-day period, the facility will not be admitting walk-in emergency patients.
Alternative Emergency Care in Vélez-Málaga
To ensure uninterrupted medical coverage across the coast, health authorities in the Axarquía health district have arranged alternative provisions. Anyone in need of urgent, non-life-threatening medical care who would normally visit the Torre del Mar clinic is being redirected inland to the Vélez-Sur health centre (*Centro de Salud Vélez-Sur*).
The alternative services at Vélez-Sur are operational from 9:00 AM. Medical staff and emergency provisions have been coordinated to handle patient flows while technical and maintenance teams complete the required updates at the coastal premises.
What This Means for Travellers
For holidaymakers staying in Nerja, Torrox, or Torre del Mar, routine primary care appointments or local emergency protocols may require slight adjustments if you need to seek attention over these dates:
- Minor emergencies: If you are staying in the western part of the Axarquía and experience a sudden minor illness, injury, or urgent medical issue between 10 October and 13 October, head to Vélez-Sur rather than the Torre del Mar facility.
- Nerja residents and guests: Nerja has its own local health centre (*Centro de Salud de Nerja*), which handles local urgent consultations. However, regional out-of-hours movements often link into nearby centres, so it is helpful to be aware of neighbouring district changes.
- Serious emergencies: In severe or life-threatening situations anywhere in Andalusia, do not spend time travelling between clinics; immediately dial 112 for rapid emergency response and ambulance dispatch.
The Torre del Mar emergency surgery is scheduled to resume normal operations following the completion of maintenance works on Tuesday 13 October.
